The Hildegard
Gunzel Dolls are made of porcelain and then coated with wax.
Hildegard Gunzel was born in 1945 in Tauberbischofsheim.
After completing her schooling at the German School
for Fashion Design in Munchen, she worked as a designer in
the fashion and jewelry industry. In 1972 she began to make dolls as a hobby and since 1980 she
has been making dolls out of porcelain, which she then coats
with a layer of wax. Hildegard
designs the wigs and clothing herself and furthermore runs
her own doll manufacturing company.
Alongside her international awards such as DOTY OF
EXCELLENCE and DOLL OF THE YEAR-USA, in 1994 Hildegard won
the JUMEAU prize for her overall work.
